Complaint Filed Against Migrant Worker Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Calf Near Karamadai

In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, a 22-year-old man from Bihar working in Karamadai is being questioned by Karamadai police over allegations that he sexually abused a calf at a cattle shed in the Chinna Vadavalli area for nearly three months.
According to reports, a farmer in the area had been raising cattle at a shed on his agricultural land. He reportedly noticed that whenever he left the cattle tied up at night, the calf would be found wandering in the agricultural fields the following morning. As the incidents continued, the farmer became suspicious and decided to monitor the cattle shed.
He subsequently installed a motion-sensor surveillance camera at the shed. During the latest incident, the sensor detected movement and triggered an alarm, prompting the farmer to rush to the spot. He reportedly found a bare-bodied youth behaving suspiciously and unleashing the calf.
The youth reportedly fled the spot but returned later to retrieve his clothes, which he had left behind at the cattle shed. The farmer and local residents then caught him and handed him over to the police. They also informed V. Balakrishnan, an anti-cruelty officer with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
Local residents said the youth appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and cannabis at the time of the incident.
Based on a complaint from the farmer, whose calf was allegedly abused, police registered a case and are investigating the incident. Initial questioning revealed that the youth was a native of Bihar and had been working at an industrial unit in the area for more than six months.
A government veterinarian examined the calf and collected swab samples from its genital area for laboratory examination.
The incident has caused shock and concern among residents in and around Karamadai.
