Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Gymnasium on Campus

Coimbatore: A state-of-the-art gymnasium, established at a cost of ₹1 crore, was inaugurated at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science in Nava India, Coimbatore, on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), providing enhanced fitness facilities for students residing on the college campus. More than 7,000 students from Coimbatore and various districts across Tamil Nadu, as well as other states, are pursuing higher education at the institution. The college campus houses separate hostels for male and female students, accommodating more than 1,000 students. Recently, a new 10-storey hostel equipped with modern amenities and capacity to accommodate 500 students was also opened for use. The college has been providing a range of recreational and sporting facilities for students, including pickleball, chess, carrom and table tennis. The newly inaugurated gymnasium further expands the institution's focus on promoting physical fitness and overall student well-being. The inauguration ceremony was held at 6 pm on October 7. Dr Sundar Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, presided over the event. Priyanka Sundar, Managing Director of P&S Group of Companies, inaugurated the gymnasium by lighting the traditional lamp. Principal and Secretary of the college, Dr P.L. Sivakumar, along with faculty members from various departments and a large number of students, attended the event. The new facility is expected to provide students with access to modern fitness infrastructure and encourage them to incorporate regular physical activity into their daily routines alongside their academic pursuits.
