Track Works to Disrupt Coimbatore-Podanur-Mettupalayam Trains This Week

Coimbatore: Train services connecting Coimbatore, Podanur, Mettupalayam and Shoranur will undergo changes on October 13, 14, 15 and 17 due to track maintenance works at Coimbatore Junction railway yard, Southern Railway’s Salem Division has announced.

The changes include short termination of passenger and MEMU trains, shifts in originating stations and diversions of several express trains, with some services skipping Coimbatore Junction and other stations.

Passenger and MEMU Trains to Be Short-Terminated

Train No. 56604 Shoranur–Coimbatore Passenger, scheduled to depart Shoranur Junction at 8.20 a.m., will terminate at Podanur Junction on October 13 and 17. The service will not operate between Podanur and Coimbatore Junction on these dates.

Train No. 66615 Mettupalayam–Podanur MEMU, scheduled to depart Mettupalayam at 1.05 p.m., will terminate at Coimbatore Junction on October 13 and 17. It will not run between Coimbatore Junction and Podanur Junction on those days.

Train No. 66613 Mettupalayam–Coimbatore MEMU, scheduled to depart Mettupalayam at 10.55 a.m., will terminate at Coimbatore North on October 14 and 15, and will not operate between Coimbatore North and Coimbatore Junction.

Changes to Train Departure Stations

Train No. 56603 Coimbatore–Shoranur Passenger, normally scheduled to leave Coimbatore Junction at 4.25 p.m., will instead originate from Podanur Junction at 4.38 p.m. on October 13 and 17. The section between Coimbatore Junction and Podanur Junction will not be operated on these dates.

Train No. 66616 Podanur–Mettupalayam MEMU, ordinarily scheduled to depart Podanur Junction at 3.30 p.m., will start from Coimbatore Junction at 3.45 p.m. on October 13 and 17. It will run from Coimbatore Junction to Mettupalayam without operating between Podanur and Coimbatore Junction.

Train No. 66614 Coimbatore–Mettupalayam MEMU, usually scheduled to leave Coimbatore Junction at 11.50 a.m., will instead depart from Coimbatore North at 11.57 a.m. on October 14 and 15. The section between Coimbatore Junction and Coimbatore North will not be operated on those dates.

Express Trains to Run on Diverted Routes

Train No. 22815 Bilaspur–Ernakulam Weekly Express, departing Bilaspur on October 12, will be diverted via Irugur and Podanur on October 13, skipping Coimbatore Junction. It will stop at Podanur Junction from 3.42 p.m. to 3.45 p.m.

On October 14, Train No. 20629 Secunderabad–Thiruvananthapuram Sabari Express will be diverted via Irugur and Podanur, skipping Coimbatore Junction. It will have an alternative stop at Podanur Junction from 9.10 a.m. to 9.15 a.m.

Train No. 16159 Chennai Egmore–Mangalore Central Express will also run via Irugur and Podanur on October 14, skipping Peelamedu, Coimbatore North and Coimbatore Junction. It will stop at Podanur Junction from 9.45 a.m. to 9.50 a.m.

Train No. 16620 Dhanbad–Podanur Amrit Bharat Express will be diverted via Irugur and Podanur on October 14, skipping Coimbatore Junction.

Train No. 22504 Dibrugarh–Kanniyakumari Vivek Express will also be diverted via Irugur and Podanur on October 14, skipping Coimbatore Junction.
