Sri Ramakrishna Dental College Earns World Records Union Recognition for Statewide Oral Health Screening

Coimbatore: In recognition of its contribution to preventive healthcare and the promotion of healthy habits among school students, Sri Ramakrishna Dental College and Hospital in Avarampalayam, Coimbatore, has been honoured by the World Records Union for participating in a large-scale oral health screening initiative that reached 3,08,106 school students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The initiative was organised by the Indian Dental Association (IDA), Tamil Nadu State Branch, from August 17 to 28, 2026, in association with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Colgate-Palmolive sponsored the programme, with Vimi Magic also associated with the initiative. The campaign aimed to strengthen oral health awareness among schoolchildren by emphasising the importance of good dental hygiene, preventive care and early attention to oral health concerns. Conducted across multiple locations, the programme brought together institutions and organisations in a concerted effort to promote better oral healthcare among young people. The World Records Union recognition was presented to Dr Sundar Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, by representatives of the Indian Dental Association, Coimbatore. Dr J. Dinakar, Principal of Sri Ramakrishna Dental College and Hospital, and faculty members were also present.
