Coimbatore: A Coimbatore resident has filed a petition with the Saravanampatty police alleging negligence by a dog boarding and grooming centre following the death of his pet Kombai, Chikku.
According to the petition receipt, Adarsh, 29, a resident of Saravanampatti, left his pet at Cuddle Club House – Cage Free Dog Boarding and Grooming, located at Chairman Thottam, in Saravanampatti, on September 30, 2026, at around 7 pm.
The petition states that on October 4, the centre informed him that Chikku had died. Adarsh alleged that a review of video recordings indicated that the dog had been left unattended and without proper care, and sought action against the owner of the facility.
In a statement shared by the pet parents, they alleged that CCTV footage from the evening of October 3 showed Chikku beginning to struggle and having difficulty finding his footing from around 6.45 pm, without anyone coming to its aid. They further claimed that the dog had died at around 7.20 pm that evening, but its body was left hanging for nearly 12 hours.
Describing the circumstances as undignified, the pet parents questioned the alleged lack of timely intervention and care. Their claims have not been independently verified.
The petition was received at Saravanampatty Police Station on October 7, 2026, and a CSR was registered.
