Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has taken up temporary road relaying using wet-mix material along a 1.9 km stretch of Vadavalli–Marudhamalai Road in Ward 36, following the completion of underground drainage works in the area.
Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, IAS, inspected the works on Wednesday, October 28. The Corporation has also planned temporary road relaying using wet-mix material along an additional 2.6 km stretch in the same region.
During the inspection, the Commissioner visited areas along the Somayampalayam Panchayat boundary, where a four-foot culvert is being constructed near a water channel. He also reviewed the survey of Corporation land and the removal of encroachments to facilitate the free flow of rainwater through the drainage channel.
In Ward 13 of the North Zone, Ravi Teja inspected rainwater drainage arrangements in Ganesapuram, where the natural flow of rainwater is obstructed by the low-lying terrain. Officials were instructed to use pumps to drain the accumulated rainwater.
The Commissioner also reviewed the distribution of household waste-segregation bags in KK Nagar, where residents were provided with bags in four colours to facilitate waste segregation.
The inspection was attended by West Zone Chairperson K.A Devayani, Assistant Commissioners, engineers, health officials and other Corporation personnel.
