Nilgiris Rains Trigger Landslips, Mettupalayam-Udagamandalam Trains Cancelled Till November 7
SimpliCity News Team · 18 hours ago

Coimbatore: Train services on the Mettupalayam-Udagamandalam route have been cancelled till November 7 after heavy rains triggered landslips at several locations in The Nilgiris, disrupting railway operations.
The landslips caused boulders and mud to fall on railway tracks, while uprooted trees also blocked the lines, bringing train movements to a halt. Railway personnel have been engaged in restoration works despite the challenges posed by the difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.
However, owing to the severity of the obstructions, the restoration works are yet to be completed. Consequently, Train No. 56136 (Mettupalayam-Udagamandalam) and Train No. 56137 (Udagamandalam-Mettupalayam) have been cancelled on November 5, 6 and 7.
The Mettupalayam-Udagamandalam Special Train (06171) scheduled for November 6 and the Udagamandalam-Mettupalayam Special Train (06172) scheduled for November 7 have also been cancelled.
