Coimbatore: Severe traffic congestion has been reported in the Madukkarai area, causing significant inconvenience to hundreds of college buses, cars, commercial vehicles and other motorists. Commuters travelling towards Kerala are reportedly facing prolonged delays and considerable hardship.
In an urgent appeal, Abdul Hakkim, a social activist and resident of the area, has urged authorities to clarify the completion timeline for the Marappalam–Madukkarai Railway Overbridge construction work.
According to the appeal, large-scale construction activity does not currently appear to be taking place at the overbridge worksite, while traffic congestion in the area continues to increase day by day, causing growing difficulties for the public.
The district administration and all concerned authorities have been urged to intervene immediately, review the current status of the pending overbridge project and take appropriate steps to expedite and complete the work.
He also appealed to members of the Coimbatore Chamber of Commerce to bring the issue to the immediate attention of the relevant authorities and help identify practical solutions to the traffic congestion.
The appeal stressed the need to treat the issue as an urgent priority and take timely action before the difficulties faced by the public worsen further.
