Para Medical Lab Educational and Welfare Association demands tariff reduction for the disposal of medical wastes

As there have been a lot of concerns raised about improper medical waste disposal across various districts in the state, there is an urgent need to address the problem and find an amicable solution in the best interest of checking environmental pollution.


Coimbatore: The members of Para Medical Lab Educational And Welfare Association staged a protest before the Red Cross office demanding various measures including a reduction of fees to implement medical waste disposal by the City corporation.



Putting forth the demand for the reduction of tariff against medical waste collection by the city municipal corporation they alleged that small and medium laboratories in Coimbatore, Pollachi, Tirupur, and Udumalpet are being charged about Rs.2000 to Rs.2,800 per month for medical waste collection. They demanded this fee be reduced to Rs.750.



The protest was headed by P. Kalidasan, All India President, Para Medical Lab Education and Welfare Association. Comrade Dr G.R.Ravindranath, General Secretary, Doctors Association for Social Equality, and various medical fraternity members participated in the protest.
