1090 liquor bottles seized from the Alangiyam police station were destroyed

The Tirupur district police destroyed 1090 liquor bottles seized during Covid-19 patrol duty. The police were on patrol duty to prevent smuggling of liquor from Dindigul to various locations in Dharapuram and Tirupur via Alangiyam in two-wheelers and cars. The Alangiyam police set up a check post at Dhasarpatty on the Tirupur-Dindigul district border and checked the vehicles and confiscated the liquor bottles.



Tirupur: During Covid-19, police destroyed 1090 liquor bottles collected in Dharapuram and surrounding areas of Tirupur district. The police were on patrol duty to prevent smuggling of liquor during the Covid period.

The police obtained information that liquor bottles were being smuggled from Dindigul to Dharapuram and Tirupur via Alangiyam in two-wheelers and cars. Following this, Alangiyam police set up a checkpoint at Dhasarpatty on the Tirupur-Dindigul district border and checked the vehicle.

At that time, those who were smuggling liquor bottles in vehicles were arrested.



Liquor bottles were seized along with the vehicle.



A total of 1,090 spirits bottles were seized and held until the case was disposed of. On the directives of higher authorities, it was determined to destroy 1090 liquor bottles seized.



In this case, a JCB machine was used to dig a pit in the presence of Dharapuram Divisional Excise Officer Murugadoss and excise tahsildar.

Following that, 1,090 bottles of spirits were burned in a pit.
