Status of station redevelopment program at Coimbatore Junction, Coimbatore North, Podanur and Mettupalayam discussed in 25th Divisional Railway Users Consultative Meeting

New Train service to Bangalore, Chennai Egmore, Tiruchendur, Karaikal, Bodinaykkananur and Restoration of train services to Rameswaram, Thoothukudi, Sengottai, Madurai, Dindigul and Halt of trains in North Coimbatore, Podanur, Peelamedu and Irugur issues raised with committee.


25th Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee meeting was conducted today 21/7/23 in the Salem division of Southern Railways.

Five DRUCC members RS Shanmugham, N. Subramanian, V. Sundaram, B. Arun kumar and Sivagnanam from Coimbatore district participated in the meeting and discussed the following issues in detail with the Railway authorities.

1. Station redevelopment program at Coimbatore Junction, Coimbatore North, Podanur and Mettupalayam.

2. New Train service to Bangalore, Chennai Egmore, Tiruchendur, Karaikal, Bodinaykkananur and Restoration of train services to Rameswaram, Thoothukudi, Sengottai, Madurai and Dindigul.

3. Halt of trains in North Coimbatore, Podanur, Peelamedu and Irugur.

4. Improvement in Railway track and maintenance infrastructure at Coimbatore, North Coimbatore, Mettupalayam and Podanur.

5. Circular train service around Coimbatore city with new halt stations at Ganapathy, Hope College, Airport, Ondipudur, Singanallur and Nanjundapuram to decongest the traffic inside the city.

A point by point response regarding the plan, proposals and developments in the issue was given by Pankaj Kumar Sinha Divisional Railway Manager, Sivalingam, Additional Divisional Railway Manager and Boopathi Raja, Sr Divisional Commercial Manager in the meeting.
