Palladam - Dharapuram road expansion project: Public criticism against construction of sewerage canal without removing roadside electricity poles

As the work on the road expansion project between Palladam and Dharapuram is going on without removing the electric poles on the roadside, the public has requested the state highways department to remove the electricity poles and construct a drainage canal

Tirupur: The public have demanded that the palladam-dharapuram road expansion project should be constructed by removing the roadside electricity poles and constructing a sewage canal.

The work of widening the Palladam Dharapuram State Highway in Tirupur District in phases is being carried out on contract basis by various agencies. At this juncture, the work of widening the Palladam-Dharapuram road is currently in full swing.

In the meantime, the work of laying a drain on both the sides of the road is in progress by placing the rotorum electric poles in the middle during the road widening work without paying attention to the road poles already erected by the Electricity Board on the roadsides.

Social activists and the general public said, During the ongoing road widening work in times of calamities such as rain, cyclonic winds, etc. The sewage water is placed in the middle of the drain causing accidents due to falling of roadside electric poles leading to loss of lives and loss of property.

Therefore, it is the demand of the entire people that the municipality, the state highways department and the electricity board should come together on a war footing to remove the roadside electricity poles in the middle of the sewerage canal which is a threat to life on a war footing.
