10 kg goat sold at Rs 7,500 in Kannivadi market

Kannivadi goat market is one of the largest goat markets in Tamil Nadu. The market is held on Fridays every week.

Coimbatore: Kannivadi goat market is one of the largest goat markets in Tamil Nadu. The market is held on Fridays every week.

Accordingly, the market was held yesterday. Farmers from Kannivadi, Mulanur, Vellakoil, Paramathi and surrounding villages brought the goats to this market for sale. Traders from Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Pollachi and Udumalpet had come to buy them.

The price of sheep in the market is determined by its weight. Accordingly, the 10 kg goat which was sold for Rs 6,500 last week was sold for Rs 7,500 this week. The price had gone up due to the decrease in the inflow of goats.

The increase in prices is due to the availability of adequate fodder for the goats in mulanur area. As a result, farmers do not come forward to sell their goats. Hence, the arrival of goats to kannivadi goat market has come down for the last three weeks. This has resulted in a rise in prices. This is what he said.
