Marumalarchi Makkal Movement Protests at Coimbatore Collector's Office Demanding Action Against Vote Buying

Members of the Marumalarchi Makkal Movement staged a wait-in protest at the Coimbatore Collector's office on April 16, demanding immediate action to curb vote buying in Coimbatore and Pollachi constituencies.

Coimbatore: On April 16, members of the Marumalarchi Makkal Movement rallied at the Coimbatore Collector's office, led by their leader Easwaran. They were protesting against the alleged ongoing vote buying in the Coimbatore and Pollachi constituencies. The movement had previously submitted a petition to District Collector and District Election Officer, Kranthi Kumar Pati, complaining that no effective measures were taken to stop this malpractice.

The issue was highlighted after videos surfaced on social media showing alleged vote buying by all parties in these constituencies. Easwaran expressed frustration over the lack of enforcement, stating that while the flying squads and authorities are active in seizing money from the public, they overlook political activists distributing money. The movement announced that the sit-in protest will continue until definitive actions are taken to prevent vote buying, emphasizing their commitment to upholding electoral integrity.
