Altercation Near Strong Room in Coimbatore Following Unauthorized Vehicle Entry

In Coimbatore, an argument erupted near the Strong Room after agents spotted an unauthorized private vehicle. The incident caused temporary unrest.

Coimbatore: Following the conclusion of the Parliamentary elections in Tamil Nadu on April 19, all voting machines were sealed and stored in the Strong Room at the Government Engineering College on Thadagam Road, Coimbatore. High-security measures including triple-layer protections and CCTV cameras have been enforced at the location. Election agent representatives were also stationed around the area.

Despite stringent rules prohibiting unauthorized access near the Strong Room, on the morning of April 21, a private vehicle was noticed approaching the area. This led to election agents confronting the officials, questioning how the vehicle, which later turned out to belong to a faculty member, was allowed close to the restricted zone. The agents raised concerns about the potential breach of election integrity.

The situation escalated into a heated argument, causing a brief period of unrest. Eventually, police mediated the situation, calming down the agents and ensuring the vehicle left the premises. The incident has raised questions on the enforcement of security protocols.
