Advocate Gopalakrishnan Addresses Media on Savukku Shankar’s Assault Case

Advocate Gopalakrishnan addressed journalists at Coimbatore Court Complex, revealing details of Savukku Shankar's assault in prison and his ongoing treatment.

Coimbatore: Advocate Gopalakrishnan recently interacted with the media at the Coimbatore Court Complex, discussing the assault on Savukku Shankar while in custody. During the interaction, he disclosed that Shankar had been physically attacked during his imprisonment, leading to the necessity of urgent medical treatment. Following a court directive, Shankar has been receiving medical care at the Coimbatore Government Hospital, where X-rays revealed fractures in two places on his hand.

The advocate also mentioned that Shankar had been put in casts and is recovering from mental stress after the treatment. He confirmed the assault's confirmation, adding that while Shankar was under police custody, a request was retracted concerning the transfer of his custody. The advocate further stressed that all legal provisions had been adhered to, dispelling rumors of negligence. Shankar is due to return to the hospital for a cast change and his custody petition will be presented in court next Monday. Gopalakrishnan assured that all necessary documents have been provided to Shankar, who has been detained under five different charges, and further claimed Shankar's innocence in a marijuana-possession case filed after his arrest in Theni.
