Panchalinga Falls in Udumalaipettai Closed for Second Day Due to Flooding

Heavy rains in the catchment areas of Panchalinga Falls in Udumalaipettai, Tirupur district, have led to flooding, prompting authorities to ban tourists from bathing for the second consecutive day.

Tirupur: The Panchalinga Falls in Udumalaipettai, Tirupur district, has been closed to tourists for the second consecutive day due to heavy flooding caused by persistent rainfall in the catchment areas.

The water catchment areas of Panchalinga Falls, located near the Thirumoorthy Hills in Udumalaipettai, have been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past two days. The affected regions include Kurumalai, Kuzhipatti, and Jallimuthan Parai, among others.

As of 9 AM today, the water level in Panchalinga Falls has risen significantly, overflowing the barriers and creating a flood-like situation. Considering the safety of tourists, the temple administration has imposed a temporary ban on bathing in the falls.

The continuous rainfall in the catchment areas has prompted the temple staff to maintain vigilant monitoring of the situation. They are keeping a close watch on the water levels and the overall safety conditions around the falls.

Authorities have urged visitors to cooperate with the temporary restrictions and avoid attempting to enter the water until further notice. The ban will remain in effect until the water levels recede and it is deemed safe for tourists to resume bathing activities at the Panchalinga Falls.

Local officials are closely monitoring weather forecasts and will provide updates on the reopening of the falls to the public once the situation improves.
