Bomb Threat Email Sent to Coimbatore International Airport, Confirmed as Hoax

An unknown person sent a bomb threat email to Coimbatore International Airport on Tuesday night. CISF's Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad investigated and confirmed it was a hoax.

Coimbatore: An email containing a bomb threat from an unknown sender was received by the Coimbatore International Airport on Tuesday night, triggering immediate security measures. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 PM, prompted a swift response from airport authorities and security personnel.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), responsible for airport security, sprang into action upon receiving the threat. The CISF's specialized Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was immediately deployed to conduct a thorough investigation of the airport premises.

After a comprehensive search and assessment, the BDDS team confirmed that the bomb threat was a hoax. No suspicious objects or explosives were found on the airport grounds, bringing relief to authorities and passengers alike.

Following the incident, a CISF official filed a formal complaint with the Peelamedu police station in Coimbatore city. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email and identify the person responsible for the false alarm.

Airport operations remained unaffected during the investigation, with authorities ensuring minimal disruption to flight schedules and passenger movement. However, security measures were heightened as a precautionary step.

The incident has raised concerns about the misuse of communication channels to create panic and disrupt public services. Authorities are taking the matter seriously and are working to prevent such incidents in the future.

As the investigation continues, law enforcement agencies are collaborating with cybercrime experts to track down the perpetrator behind this false bomb threat. Further updates on the case are expected as the inquiry progresses.
