Coimbatore: District Collector Pavan Kumar conducted a surprise inspection at the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) strong room located at GCT College on Thadagam Road late last night. The strong room houses EVMs containing votes cast across all 10 Assembly constituencies in Coimbatore district.

The EVMs have been kept under tight security at the GCT College premises, where vote counting is scheduled to take place on the 4th of this month. The strong room has been established with multiple layers of security to ensure the safe custody of the voting machines until the counting day.

During his surprise visit, Collector Pavan Kumar meticulously inspected the security arrangements and verified the identity cards of all personnel present at the location. The inspection was part of ensuring complete transparency and adherence to Election Commission guidelines for the safe storage of EVMs.

The surprise inspection by the District Collector demonstrates the administration's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. Such unannounced visits help ensure that all security protocols are being strictly followed and that there is no scope for any irregularities.

Officials confirmed that all security measures, including CCTV surveillance, round-the-clock security personnel deployment, and restricted access protocols, are being strictly implemented at the strong room.
