Coimbatore Mayor Inspects Development Projects in Coimbatore North Zone

Mayor K Ranganayaki Ramachandran conducted a comprehensive field inspection of ongoing development projects in Coimbatore Corporation's North Zone on May 22, 2026. She reviewed multiple infrastructure works including stormwater drains, bridges, and urban welfare center facilities, directing officials to ensure speedy and quality completion of all projects.


Coimbatore: Mayor K Ranganayaki Ramachandran conducted a detailed field inspection of ongoing development projects in the North Zone of Coimbatore Corporation on May 22, 2026. During the visit, she reviewed the progress of various infrastructure works and instructed concerned officials to complete all projects swiftly while maintaining quality standards.



The Mayor inspected several significant projects across Ward No. 29 in the North Zone. In Ganapathi Puthur First Street, she reviewed the stormwater drain and culvert construction work being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 28 lakh under the Corporation's general fund. The project aims to improve drainage infrastructure in the locality.



In V.N.S. Nagar area, the Mayor examined the reconstruction work of stormwater drains and culverts with an allocation of Rs 5 lakh from the Corporation's general fund. Similarly, in Korathotam area, she inspected another drainage and culvert reconstruction project valued at Rs 5 lakh under the same funding mechanism.



At Ganapathi Garden area, K Ranganayaki Ramachandran reviewed the construction of a laboratory and compound wall at the Urban Welfare Center, a project estimated at Rs 40 lakh under the Corporation's general fund. This facility is expected to enhance community welfare services in the region.

Additionally, the Mayor inspected bridge construction works connecting V.N.S. Nagar to Chinnasamy Nagar Road and across the canal between V.N.S. Nagar areas. These bridge projects, with a combined estimate of Rs 39.70 lakh, are designed to improve connectivity and ease traffic flow in the northern parts of the city.



During the inspection, Mayor Ranganayaki emphasized the importance of timely completion without compromising on quality. She directed the concerned officials to monitor the progress closely and address any obstacles that might delay the projects. The Mayor stressed that these development works are crucial for improving the city's infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents in the North Zone.

Corporation officials accompanied the Mayor throughout the inspection tour, providing updates on project timelines and addressing queries regarding implementation. The comprehensive review covered projects totaling over Rs 1.17 crore, all aimed at upgrading essential civic infrastructure in the northern areas of Coimbatore.
