Missing 10-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Coimbatore

A 10-year-old girl who went missing near Sulur in Coimbatore district on Thursday evening was found dead near a pond today. Sulur police have registered a case and launched an intensive investigation.


Coimbatore: A tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the Sulur area of Coimbatore district after a 10-year-old girl was found dead near a pond on Friday morning, after she went missing from her neighbourhood.

According to preliminary police reports, the young girl, a resident of a locality near Sulur, had been playing outside her house on Thursday evening when she suddenly disappeared. When the child did not return home even after nightfall, her parents and relatives conducted searches in nearby areas but could not locate her.

Sources also say a missing complaint was allegedly filed at the Sulur Police Station.


On Friday morning, local residents discovered a body lying near the banks of a pond in the vicinity and immediately informed the police. Sulur police rushed to the location, recovered the body, and identified it as the missing 10-year-old girl.

The body was subsequently sent to Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.


Sulur police have registered a case and launched an intensive probe, examining the incident from multiple angles.
