Parambikkulam Dam Water Level Rises to 25.68 Feet

Parambikkulam Dam near Pollachi has recorded a water level of 25.68 feet due to southwest monsoon rains. The dam receives an inflow of 125 cusecs while releasing 1015 cusecs. The total capacity of the dam is 72 feet, as per May 26 data.

Coimbatore: The water level at Parambikkulam Dam near Pollachi has witnessed a significant rise due to continuous southwest monsoon rainfall in the catchment areas. The dam, which has a total storage capacity of 72 feet, currently stands at 25.68 feet as of May 26.

The persistent southwest monsoon rains in the dam's catchment region have resulted in increased water inflow. According to the latest data recorded on May 26, the dam is receiving an inflow of 125 cubic feet per second (cusecs).

In response to the increased inflow, authorities are releasing 1015 cusecs of water from the dam. This controlled discharge is being carried out to benefit irrigation facilities in the downstream areas and to maintain optimal water levels in the reservoir.

Parambikkulam Dam is one of the crucial irrigation dams located in the Pollachi region. During the southwest monsoon season, these areas typically receive good rainfall, leading to a gradual increase in water levels across various reservoirs in the district.

Farmers and local body representatives have welcomed this increase in water inflow. There is renewed hope among the agricultural community that improved irrigation facilities will benefit their crops in the coming season. The rise in water level also ensures better water availability for both agricultural and domestic purposes in the region.

The Public Works Department (PWD) officials continue to monitor the water level and inflow patterns closely to ensure proper water management and safety of the dam structure.
