Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation imposed a ₹5,000 fine on an individual for illegally dumping garbage near the lake bund on Thondamuthur Road. Officials urged the public to dispose of waste responsibly and help protect the environment and water bodies.
Coimbatore: Acting on the instructions of Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, action was taken against an individual for illegally dumping garbage along the lake bund in the Thondamuthur Road area.
During an inspection carried out by Zonal Health Officer Radhakrishnan and Sanitary Inspector Salai, the person responsible for the violation was identified and fined ₹5,000 for improper disposal of waste in the waterbody area.
The action forms part of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation's ongoing efforts to maintain cleanliness and protect water resources from pollution caused by indiscriminate dumping of garbage.
The Corporation urged residents to cooperate in safeguarding the environment and refrain from disposing of waste in public places, roadsides and areas surrounding lakes and other waterbodies. It also warned that stringent action would be taken against those found violating waste disposal norms.
