Union Civil Aviation Minister Reviews Coimbatore International Airport Redevelopment Plans

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu has reviewed the redevelopment plans and architectural designs of Coimbatore International Airport, along with key airport projects in Purnea, Warangal and Vijayawada, as part of the Centre's airport modernisation programme.

Coimbatore: Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu has reviewed the elevation designs and construction progress of the redevelopment works at Coimbatore International Airport, along with key airport projects in Purnea, Warangal and Vijayawada.

Sharing the update on X, the Union Minister said the review focused on the architectural designs and execution of the redevelopment projects. He noted that Indian airports are increasingly gaining global recognition for terminal designs that seamlessly integrate technology, sustainability and the country's rich cultural heritage.

He appreciated the engineers and architects associated with the projects for translating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi' into passenger-centric airport infrastructure that reflects both modern development and India's architectural identity.

The review assumes significance as the Centre is expected to commence expansion works at Coimbatore International Airport shortly. The Civil Aviation Minister had earlier in February announced that construction would begin within five months, with the project slated for completion by the end of 2028.
