Coimbatore Corporation Administers Rabies Vaccination to Over 400 Street Dogs in Single Day

Coimbatore Corporation and NGOs jointly vaccinated over 400 street dogs against rabies in Selvapuram, Singanallur, Ondipudur, and Irugur areas. The drive was conducted under Commissioner Katta Ravi Theja IAS's directives to ensure public health safety across the city.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation administration, in collaboration with voluntary organizations, administered rabies vaccination to approximately 400 street dogs in a single day across various parts of the city. This special initiative was undertaken to ensure public health and safety.

Under the directives of Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Theja IAS, a special Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) camp was organized on 07.07.2026 in areas including Selvapuram, Singanallur, Ondipudur, and Irugur. The Corporation and NGOs worked together with the objective of ensuring public health protection.

Corporation officials successfully vaccinated over 400 street dogs in a single day. Veterinary officers, field workers from the Corporation, and NGO staff members worked in coordination to humanely catch the street dogs, administer the vaccination, and release them back in the same areas where they were found.

To prevent the spread of rabies from street dogs to humans, a comprehensive vaccination drive is being conducted continuously across the city. Through this initiative, plans have been made to vaccinate a large number of street dogs on a daily basis.

Furthermore, the Corporation administration has requested full cooperation from the public and animal welfare organizations for these activities, ensuring no inconvenience to either citizens or street dogs. These efforts will continue intensively to create a rabies-free Coimbatore and ensure the safe coexistence of humans and animals.
