International Conference on Climate-Resilient Agriculture Begins at TNAU

A three-day international conference titled "Future Farming: Climate-Resilient and Adaptive Agricultural Solutions" commenced at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore on July 8. The event witnessed participation from 281 delegates representing five countries and 15 Indian states, focusing on climate change adaptation in agriculture.


Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) inaugurated an international conference on climate-resilient agricultural solutions today. The three-day event has been jointly organized by the Centre for Agroclimate Research and the Centre of Excellence for Climate and Disaster Resilient Agriculture (CoE-CDRA).



The international conference titled "Future Farming: Climate-Resilient and Adaptive Agricultural Solutions" (ICFRF-2026) was inaugurated by Dr K. Subramaniam, Officer-in-Charge Vice-Chancellor of the university. The conference has received support from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Dr P. Balasubramanian, Principal Investigator (DST-CoE-CDRA) and Director of Open and Distance Learning, delivered the welcome address. Former Vice-Chancellor Dr V. Geethalakshmi explained the objectives and significance of the conference.

S.S. Vaseekharan from NABARD, Dr S. Pazhanivelان், Director of Crop Management Directorate, and Dr Sheikh N. Meera, Director of the Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Hyderabad, extended their felicitations during the event.

Dr Vijay Gopal Kagani, Professor at the University of Florida, USA, delivered the keynote address. The conference proceedings were released, and special guests were honored during the inaugural function.

The conference has attracted 281 students and researchers from 33 universities, research institutions, and industrial organizations across five countries and 15 states of India. Dr N.K. Sathyamoorthy, Professor and Head of the Centre for Agroclimate Research, proposed the vote of thanks.
