Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy Dams Record Rising Water Levels in Tiruppur

The water level at Amaravathi Dam in Tiruppur district has risen to 48.07 feet on July 10. The dam with 90 feet capacity is receiving an inflow of 682 cubic feet per second. Thirumoorthy Dam's water level stands at 29.59 feet with continuous inflow from catchment areas.

Coimbatore: The Water Resources Department officials have released details about the water level status of Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams located in Tiruppur district. Both dams are witnessing increased water inflow due to continuous rainfall in the region.

The water level at Amaravathi Dam, which has a total storage capacity of 90 feet, has risen to 48.07 feet as of July 10. This increase is attributed to continuous water flow from the dam's catchment areas. Currently, the dam is recording an inflow of 682 cubic feet per second, providing a steady boost to its storage levels.

Similarly, Thirumoorthy Dam, located near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur district with a storage capacity of 60 feet, currently has a water level of 29.59 feet. The dam is receiving an inflow of 494 cubic feet per second. Water Resources Department officials have stated that 9,154 cubic feet of water is being released from the dam to manage the storage efficiently.

The increased water inflow to both dams during the southwest monsoon season brings hope to farmers in the region. With more rainfall expected in the coming days, officials anticipate that the water levels in both dams will continue to rise, ensuring adequate water supply for irrigation and other agricultural needs. The steady inflow marks a positive development for water security in Tiruppur district.
