Coimbatore: The Department of Neurointerventional Radiology at GKNM Hospital, in association with the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR), successfully conducted a comprehensive two-day National Level Stroke Workshop. The intensive training program brought together 28 selected specialists and delegates from across India to master advanced stroke intervention techniques under the leadership of Dr Rasmiranjan Padhi.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Dr Ragupathy Veluswamy, Chief Executive Officer of GKNM Hospital, who emphasized the critical importance of continuous medical education and advanced skill development in improving patient outcomes. "Interventional radiology, using sophisticated imaging and minimally invasive techniques, has transformed modern medicine. Nowhere is this more evident than in acute stroke care, where mechanical thrombectomy enables patients to not only survive but regain their independence," the CEO noted.

Over the course of two days, the workshop featured a high-impact blend of didactic lectures, hands-on simulation training, and live case demonstrations. Faculty members shared vital insights on contemporary clinical evidence, procedural strategies, and the management of complex neurovascular cases, providing participants with practical knowledge applicable to real-world scenarios.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Dr Rasmiranjan Padhi highlighted that timely intervention and structured training are crucial to expanding access to high-quality stroke care across the country. "In stroke care, every minute saved means brain cells saved. Every technique mastered today by these specialists may restore a patient's speech, movement, or independence tomorrow," Dr Padhi stated.

The event concluded with enthusiastic participation from all delegates, reinforcing GKNM Hospital's commitment to advancing neurointerventional training and elevated stroke care standards in India through continuous education and clinical collaboration.
