DMK Coimbatore North District Executive Meeting Focuses on Reorganisation of Party Units

More than 500 DMK office-bearers from the Mettupalayam, Kavundampalayam and Thondamuthur Assembly constituencies participated in the Coimbatore district (North) DMK executive committee meeting, where discussions focused on the proposed reorganisation of party units and restructuring of organisational boundaries.

The proposed reorganisation of DMK organisational units and the restructuring of party boundaries formed the focus of the Coimbatore district (North) DMK executive committee meeting held near Thudiyalur on Sunday.

The meeting, held on the directions of former Minister and Coimbatore South MLA V. Senthil Balaji, saw the participation of more than 500 office-bearers. District, area, ward and branch-level functionaries from the Mettupalayam, Kavundampalayam and Thondamuthur Assembly constituencies took part.

North Coimbatore district DMK secretary Thondamuthur Ravi presided over the meeting, while Thudiyalur area secretary Arulkumar welcomed the participants. Former MP and DMK Sports Development Wing deputy secretary S.R. Parthiban and former Mayor and DMK Women Volunteers Wing deputy secretary J. Rekha Priyadarshini participated as special guests and addressed the party office-bearers.

During the meeting, party representatives discussed the proposed restructuring of organisational units in accordance with directions from the party leadership. It was stated that union-level party units would be reorganised to cover between 25,000 and 30,000 voters, while city units would be structured to cover between 30,000 and 40,000 voters.

The office-bearers were also informed that each panchayat should fall under a single union unit and that a polling booth should not be divided between two organisational units. Existing units with substantially lower voter strength would be considered for restructuring, the speakers said.

The party functionaries were asked to consult senior office-bearers and submit suggestions on how the union and city-level units could be reorganised effectively within their respective constituencies.

Suggestions were subsequently sought from the participants, and the special guests took note of the views expressed during the meeting, stating that they would be conveyed to the party leadership.

More than 500 district, area, ward and branch-level office-bearers from the three Assembly constituencies attended the meeting. Among those present were district deputy secretary Ashok Babu Arukutty, former MLA Arunkumar, C.R. Ramachandran and former MP Nagaraj.
