PM Narendra Modi Congratulates Sakshi Malik Rio Bronze Medallist

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated wrestler Sakshi Malik who clinched bronze on Wednesday to give India its first medal at the on going Olympics in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro.

"Sakshi Malik creates history! Congratulations to her for the Bronze. The entire nation is rejoicing," PM Modi tweeted.

Ms. Malik, 23, brought an end to India's long medal wait, when every hopeful had failed one by one.

In another tweet, the Prime Minister said:



Ms. Malik clinched the bronze in the Women's Freestyle 58kg category with a spirited comeback victory over Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan.
