Food Corporation of India inspects godowns in Coimbatore

An inspection was conducted at the Food Corporation of India's go down in Coimbatore, by Tiruchy Siva a Member of the Parliament and an Advisor at the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

Post-inspection, he addressed the press and stated that a nation-wide inspection has been kick started at all FCI godowns to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the food products.

As a part of the inspections, FCI's godowns around the district of Coimbatore were inspected by him, since yesterday. He also reported that “Earlier chemical pesticides were used at the godowns to control pest infestations but they also pose some serious implications on the food grains. Hence we have adopted natural harm-free pesticides as suggested by Namaalvar at all FCI godowns. Though the cost of natural pesticides costs twice more than the previous ones, we have planned to adopt this across the state to ensure people's safety and welfare. The natural pesticides comprises of many herbs like neem, tulsi etc.,

Yesterday, at an inspection at the Mettupalayam FCI godown, the officials spotted pest infestations at many places in the godown and had sternly passed orders to the staffs to maintain cleanliness and use natural pesticides to curb infestations with immediate effect.

When questioned about the TN Fishermen issue he asserted that the issue has been discussed at the Parliament and the External affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has been initiating action plans to annihilate the long-term issues of the Indian fishermen. When questions were raised on Sasikala Pushpa's issue, he refused to answer the same.

Senior FCI's Officials and other district government authorities were present during the inspection.
