City Police Commissioner Office gets a fresh makeover


The long-pending pleas of the public and the police to upgrade the basic facilities and introduce new facilities at the Commissioner office has been accomplished today.

Thiru. S.P. Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programme inaugurated the new facilities at 10:30 am in the presence of high-ranked Officials from Police department & City Corporation and state legislative members.



A refurbished Food Court, an ATM center of State Bank of India, a community hall and sanitary complex were the newly added facilities. These facilities were built from City Corporation's fund of 10 lakhs and with fund of Rs. 28.55 lakhs by Minister A.P. Nagarajan's Member of Parliament fund, under the 2015-2016, urban area development scheme.

City Police Commissioner, A. Amalraj, in his speech thanked Minister SP Velumani for gracefully accepting their invitation to preside the inaugural function. He stated that the minister SP Velumani has fulfilled the requests put-forth by the Police dept. swiftly and expressed his gratitude for his continued support. The police as well the public will be immensely benefited by the refurbished canteen facilities, as quality food will be provided at a very affordable cost, he said. 'We have requested the minister for installation of solar panels at the Office', he said. 



Minister, SP Velumani in his inaugural address stated that during the reign of Chief Minister Dr. J. Jayalalitha, the police department has been functioning very diligently and the CM has announced and allotted funds for the upgradation of the Police Department. He also expressed his thanks to Minister Nagaraj for allotting funds for accomplishing the project. 



MLAs - Amman Arjun, PRG Arunkumar, District Collector T.N. Hariharan, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vijaya Karthikeyan, City Mayor Rajkumar, Regional Manager of State Bank of India Mr. Kumaravel along with senior police officials participated in the event. The food court will open from morning till evening on all working days for the general public as well.
