Stalin slams AIADMK on Kerala Siruvani dam issue

Thousands of DMK party members and public gathered at the Codissia grounds to raise their agitation against the Siruvani dam issue. The DMK party led by their leader MK Stalin had organised a massive meeting at the Codissia Grounds, Coimbatore to condemn the Kerala Government proposal for building dam at Attapadi, Agali.

MK Stalin addressed the gathering on the Siruvani dam issue, he alleged that the ruling AIADMK party has failed to establish an amicable relationship with the neighbouring states, putting the livelihood and the welfare of the farmers living in Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupur in jeopardy. He strongly suggested that the TN Chief Minister along with the leaders of other political parties should meet the Prime Minister to revoke the orders issued by the Centre and put-forth their discussion points on the issue. "If the Chief Minister calls for a joint meet, DMK would be glad to participate," he assured.

The Athikadavu-Avinashi drinking water scheme, the prime requisite of the people from the Coimbatore district is yet to be accomplished, due to the snail-pace work done by the officials, he said. He questioned that why the TN Chief minister has not approached the judicial system for obtaining a stay order against the Kerala Government but whereas the CM has approached the Court seeking stay orders on cases like 'disproportionate asset case', and 'Samacheer Kalvi' schemes. The State Government has to respond swiftly on the issue and strongly insist the Central Government to rescind the orders, with immediate effect.

Senior office bearers of DMK from the districts of Erode, Tirupur and Pollachi and the members participated in the meet.
