'Open Wells' pose huge threat, 2 deaths reported in the city


People falling prey to open wells has been on a rise in the recent days. Two tragic incidents have been reported in the City, claiming the life of two people.

Mani (42) hails from Dharmapuri district, he had been staying with his wife, Kavitha (36) and four children at Chinna Thadagam. He works in a brick kiln, close to his residence. Yesterday, while he was on his way back home, he was shocked to see a tusker on his way. The tusker started to chase him vigorously, Mani ran hard to get rid of the elephant and unexpectedly fell into a open desolated well.

Mani's relatives started searching for him, as it was very late.  Later, they found his body in the well. The Thudiyalur police have registered a case against his death. In a similar incident Ramesh (35) from Karupparayanpalayam, a suburb of Coimbatore, fell in an open well near his residence and died.
