Two killed in city in separate accidents

Coimbatore: A 23-year-old youth from RS Puram was killed after a speeding truck rammed the motorcycle he was travelling in near here. The deceased has been identified as M Mehul Motani.

According to traffic investigation wing of city police, the victim was employed with Akira intelligence management solutions at Pattalamman Kovil street in Peelamedu. The accident took place while he was returning home after work. In the accident, Mehul Motani sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. The body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case against the truck driver.

In a similar incident, a 50-year-old man from Moolathurai near Sirumugai was killed after a truck hit his moped on Kitchakathiyur-Thimmarayampalayam Road. Police said R Pushbaraj was on his way to home when the accident occurred. A speeding truck hit the moped and Pushbaraj was thrown off the vehicle. He sustained head injuries and died on way to hospital.
