Amma mobile phones distributed to women self help groups

District Collector Archana Patnaik on Wednesday distributed the newly launched Amma mobile phones to 10 leaders of the women Self Help Groups here.

As per the scheme launched by the state government, leaders of the 378 SHG leaders will be given the android phones along with a special application which can be used to store important work-related details and records. All the calculations and the activities of the SHGs, including the funds transferred, can be stored in the application, which comes pre-loaded in the phones.

The leaders will be given training at the District Management Office of the Tamil Nadu State Urban Livelihood Centre to handle the phone and learn its technology, in order to work with the application.

The 10 leaders, who had received the training at the centre, were given the phones by the district collector. The others will soon receive their phones.
