Double life for six for murdering 50-year old woman

A district court in Tirupur today sentenced six persons to double life for murdering a 50- year old woman for gain some four years ago.

The prosecution case was that the gang had gained entry into the house of a retired police officer Palanisamy in Viyapura on the outskirts of Tirupur and murdered his wife Thangam who was alone in the house. They had used lethal weapons and looted gold ornaments in 2012.

The case was going on in 2nd Additional District Court and Judge A. Muhamed Jiyaputhee, today awarded double life sentence to the six persons for the murder.

The accused are Yesudasan, Mayandi, Thangaraj, Prabhakaran, Subburaj and another Thangaraj, all hailing from Tirunelveli and the sentence will run concurrently.

The main accused is a juvenile and his case is going on in separate court.
