Three foreign nationals — two from Uganda and one from Rwanda — who were allegedly found staying in Coimbatore beyond the validity of their visas have been sent to special camps in Tiruchi and Cheyyar as part of deportation proceedings.
Coimbatore: Three foreign nationals — two women from Uganda and a man from Rwanda — have been lodged in special camps for foreign nationals after they were allegedly found staying in Coimbatore beyond the validity of their visas without obtaining the required extensions, the Coimbatore City Police said.
The two Ugandan women were identified as Prossy Nantale and Betty Nalugwa, while the Rwandan national was identified as Eliel Sindikubwabo.
The action was taken on the orders of Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Dr. N. Kannan, IPS, after the three were allegedly found to have continued staying in Saravanampatti in Coimbatore after the expiry of their visa period without obtaining valid extensions.
As part of the process to deport them to their respective countries, the two Ugandan women were lodged in the Special Camp for Foreigners in Tiruchi, while Eliel Sindikubwabo was lodged in the Special Camp for Foreigners at Cheyyar in Tiruvannamalai district on September 9, 2026, the police said.
