Coimbatore: Police filed cases on RSS functionaries who participated in a rally in the city on charges of violating the conditions laid down by the High Court and practising martial art " Silambam" in public during the rally.
The police have registered a case under four sections of the IPC against the four RSS functionaries.
In the rally held in the city, senior BJP leader H Raja, Hindu Makkal Katchi leader Arjun Sampath and others participated. The rally was taken out to mark the 350th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji, the birth anniversary of Ambedkar and the 200th birth anniversary of Vallalar.

The rally started from Ponnaiyarajapuram in Coimbatore and passed through Thyagi Kumaran Street, Idayar Street and Thomas Street and culminated at Raja Veedhi Thermutti Maidan.
Meanwhile, sub-inspectors Vignesh and special sub-inspector Basavalingam lodged a complaint at Variety Hall police station in Coimbatore alleging that RSS rallyists have violated the rules laid down by the High Court and took arms training by practising "Silambam" in a public place.
On the basis of this, the police have registered two cases under sections 151, 341, 290 and 153 against RSS District president Sukumar, vice-president Kumar, information and public relations officer Vijayakumar, Coimbatore municipal secretary Murugan and others.
