In Coimbatore, a three-day women's volleyball competition began today at K.C.K. Community Hall, marking Kalaignar Karunanidhi's centenary celebrations, organized by the North District DMK Sports Development Team.
Coimbatore: Today marked the commencement of the women's volleyball competitions in Coimbatore, credited to the North District DMK Sports Development Team. These games, initiated at the K.C.K. Community Hall complex, are dedicated as part of the centenary celebrations of former Chief Minister and DMK leader Kalaignar Karunanidhi.

The sports event showcases matches both during the day and under floodlights, contingent upon bringing spirited gaming amidst memorial festivities. This tournament spans three days and accommodates state-level teams such as the Tamil Nadu Police team, Chennai SDAT Excellence, Coimbatore Nirmala College, Aathur Bharatiyar team, and Madurai American College. Furthermore, it features 16 district-level teams like AP School, Agarwal School, Thadagam Government School, among others.

The inaugural match was flagged off by prominent DMK members, T.P. Subramaniam and C.M. Krishnakumar, who encouraged the sportswomen with their opening serve. Attended by numerous local dignitaries and supporters, the celebration and competition promise generous prizes such as Rs. 25,101 and a trophy for the winner, down to Rs. 8,101 for the fifth place at the state level, and similar accolades for district levels including cash prizes and trophies for the top finishers.
Accommodation and meals are provided for the competing athletes, with all arrangements made by K.C.K. Thanakumar, Deputy Organizer of the North District DMK Sports Development Team.
