Coimbatore: The Sri Sarada Navaratri festival, jointly organized by Swami Vivekananda Kalai Narpani Mandram and Thirukoil Deivangal Trust of Pollachi Arsha Vidya Peetam, commenced on Sunday morning with a Ganapati Homam at a private wedding hall in Jothi Nagar, Pollachi. The nine-day celebration began with great fervor and religious enthusiasm.
A special 10-foot-tall idol of Sri Durga Devi was adorned and worshipped with elaborate rituals. Sri La Sri Kamatchi Dasa Swamigal of Thiruppukuzhiyur Avinashi Adheenam inaugurated the event.
Adheenam leaders from various parts of Tamil Nadu attended the ceremony and addressed the public about the importance of celebrating Navaratri and the significance of Kolu worship.
The religious leaders stressed the need to create awareness about Kolu worship among the younger generation. They emphasized that preserving these traditions is crucial for maintaining cultural heritage and spiritual values.
Following the religious ceremonies, a Bharatanatyam performance by Udumalpet Senthil captivated the audience.
A large number of people gathered to witness and appreciate the classical dance recital, adding a cultural dimension to the spiritual event.
The Navaratri festival, known for its colorful Kolu displays and devotional activities, will continue for nine days, offering a platform for both spiritual enlightenment and cultural showcase in Pollachi.
