Southern Railway Adds Sleeper Coaches to Three Pairs of Express Trains

Coimbatore: In a move to accommodate the growing number of passengers, Southern Railway’s Salem Division has announced the temporary addition of one Sleeper Class coach to three pairs of express trains, including services connecting Coimbatore with Nagercoil and Rameswaram.
The additional coaches will be attached to the trains for specified periods between September 29, 2026, and January 6, 2027.
According to the railway notification, the following trains will operate with an additional Sleeper Class coach: Coimbatore–Nagercoil Express (Train No. 22668): One additional Sleeper Class coach will be attached from September 29, 2026, to January 4, 2027. The train departs Coimbatore Junction at 7.30 pm.
Nagercoil–Coimbatore Express (Train No. 22667): The train will have an additional Sleeper Class coach from September 30, 2026, to January 5, 2027. It departs Nagercoil Junction at 9.55 pm.
Karaikal–Ernakulam Express (Train No. 16187): One additional Sleeper Class coach will be attached from September 29, 2026, to January 5, 2027. The train departs Karaikal at 4.30 pm.
Ernakulam–Karaikal Express (Train No. 16188): The additional coach will be available from September 30, 2026, to January 6, 2027. The train departs Ernakulam Junction at 10.25 pm.
Coimbatore–Rameswaram Weekly Express (Train No. 16618): One additional Sleeper Class coach will be attached from October 6 to December 29, 2026. The train departs Coimbatore Junction at 7.45 pm on Tuesdays.
Rameswaram–Coimbatore Weekly Express (Train No. 16617): The train will have an additional Sleeper Class coach from October 7 to December 30, 2026. It departs Rameswaram at 8.15 pm on Wednesdays.
The temporary augmentation is intended to meet the travel requirements of the increasing number of passengers.
