Gandhi Jayanthi: Special Trains from Chennai to Podanur, Ernakulam Announced

Coimbatore: Southern Railway has announced special train services during the Gandhi Jayanthi long weekend, including additional services connecting Chennai and Podanur and Ernakulam and Chennai via Podanur, to accommodate the expected passenger rush.
Reservations are open at 8 a.m. on October 1.
Dr MGR Chennai Central–Podanur Express
Train No. 06023 Dr MGR Chennai Central–Podanur Express Special will depart from Dr MGR Chennai Central at 11.55 p.m. on October 1 and reach Podanur at 9.15 a.m. on October 2.
The return service, Train No. 06024 Podanur–Chennai Beach Express Special, will leave Podanur at 6.15 p.m. on October 4 and reach Chennai Beach at 4 a.m. on October 5.
Stoppages
The train will have stoppages at Perambur, Tiruvallur, Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur before reaching Podanur.
Composition
The train will comprise 10 AC Three-Tier coaches, six AC Three-Tier Economy coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans.
Ernakulam Junction–Chennai Egmore Express
Meanwhile, Train No. 06056 Ernakulam Junction–Chennai Egmore Express will depart Ernakulam Junction at 11.10 p.m. on October 4 and reach Chennai Egmore at 12.30 p.m. the following day.
And in its return service, Train No. 06055 Chennai Egmore–Ernakulam Junction Express Special, will leave Chennai Egmore at 2.30 p.m. on October 5 and reach Ernakulam Junction at 4.30 a.m.
Stoppages
This service will stop at Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Arakkonam, Tiruvallur and Perambur, among other stations.
Composition
Includes two AC Two-Tier coaches, three AC Three-Tier coaches, seven AC Three-Tier Economy coaches, four Sleeper Class coaches and four General Second Class coaches, along with two luggage-cum-brake vans.
Southern Railway has also announced special services on other routes, including Tambaram–Tenkasi/Sengottai, Tambaram–Manamadurai and Tirunelveli–Tambaram, as part of the Gandhi Jayanthi long-weekend arrangements.
