Ground bridge damaged near Pandalur - The public in distress

Due to heavy rains, a ground bridge leading to the village in the Koovamoola area near Pandalur in the Nilgiris district was damaged. As a result, residents in the area are unable to go back to their homes.


The Nilgiris: People are suffering as a result of the effect of a ground bridge collapse near Pandalur.

Pandalur and Gudalur in the Nilgiris district have been experiencing extreme heat wave conditions in recent days.

In this situation, there was heavy rain in the surrounding areas of Pandalur the previous night. Following this, a tree fell across the road in Ayyankolly area and traffic was disrupted.

The ground bridge at Chettivayal, near Koovamoola, was also washed away in the waters. Due to this, people going to Uppatti and Pandalur areas have been affected. Farmers, in particular, are unable to carry their produce.

Apart from this, 180 families in the Chettivayal area have to pass through the bridge. Due to the collapse of the bridge in the area, the normal life of the people has been badly affected.
