BJP former state president K Annamalai campaigned for AMMK candidate C Shanmugavelu at Madathukulam assembly constituency in Tiruppur district, alleging a rise in crimes against women under the current DMK government and criticizing the party's candidate selection process at Erisanampatty area.
Coimbatore: BJP former state president K Annamalai today campaigned for Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) candidate C Shanmugavelu, who is contesting on the pressure cooker symbol in the Madathukulam assembly constituency under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tiruppur district. He canvassed for votes in the Erisanampatty area.

Addressing the gathering, Annamalai launched a scathing attack on the ruling DMK government. "Under the current DMK regime, crimes against women have increased significantly. Cases of rape and murder have risen alarmingly. This is clear evidence that from the branch level to the top tier, DMK is working against people's welfare," he alleged.

He criticized the DMK's candidate selection process, stating, "Only three people select DMK candidates - Stalin, Udhayanidhi, and Sabareeswaran. You need their blessing to get responsibility and a ticket. DMK is a party without democracy. Just like Udhayanidhi suddenly became Deputy Chief Minister, they will make Inbanidhi an MLA in the next election."

Annamalai emphasized the need for comprehensive change. "If we want change, everything must change. DMK has many wrong people in large numbers. The party is bad, and the governance is worse," he said.

Speaking about post-election plans, he stated, "After May 4, we will see who among Edappadi becomes Chief Minister. The AIADMK-BJP alliance will jointly provide excellent governance to Tamil Nadu. After that, the Upper Amaravathi Dam project and the Anaimalai Nallaru project will be implemented. These projects can only become reality when the state government works in coordination with the central government."

The BJP leader's campaign in Madathukulam is part of the NDA's efforts to strengthen its presence in western Tamil Nadu, with AMMK being an alliance partner contesting select constituencies in the upcoming assembly elections.
