Beyond Travel: Coimbatore Airport Celebrates Yatri Suvidha Diwas with Community-Centric Initiatives

From cultural performances and aviation career guidance sessions to health camps and environmental initiatives, Coimbatore International Airport’s Yatri Suvidha Diwas celebrations highlighted its commitment to passenger well-being, community engagement and service excellence.

Coimbatore:

Passengers at Coimbatore International Airport were treated to a vibrant blend of culture, community outreach and passenger-centric initiatives as the airport celebrated Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026, transforming the terminal into a hub of engagement beyond routine travel.

Organised by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the celebrations aimed to create awareness among passengers and the public about AAI’s initiatives in strengthening aviation infrastructure and enhancing passenger facilities across the country.

Airport Director Mohammed Arif said the celebrations commenced with the traditional welcoming of passengers with tika, setting a festive tone for the day. Students of Avinashilingam University presented a colourful Baduga folk dance, while employees of AAI and representatives of stakeholder organisations joined in rendering Vande Mataram, reflecting the spirit of patriotism and collective commitment towards nation-building.

He further said that the event served as a meaningful platform to connect with passengers, stakeholders, students and the wider community, while showcasing the Airports Authority of India’s commitment to service excellence and inclusive development in the aviation sector.

To encourage passenger participation, selfie points were installed at prominent locations within the terminal, allowing travellers and visitors to capture memorable moments as part of the celebrations. A drawing competition for children was also organised to nurture creativity while sensitising young minds to the importance of aviation and passenger-centric services.

In an effort to inspire future aviation professionals, AAI officials conducted a career counselling session for college students, highlighting the diverse opportunities available in the sector and encouraging them to explore careers in the dynamic field of aviation.

The celebrations also underscored the airport’s commitment to community welfare. A blood donation camp, organised in association with Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, saw 20 voluntary donors come forward to donate blood.

A health check-up camp conducted in collaboration with Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital Ltd. benefited around 184 individuals, including airport employees, stakeholder staff, passengers and visitors. In addition, an eye screening camp organised with Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital provided consultations and screenings to approximately 112 beneficiaries, including airport taxi drivers, frontline staff and members of the travelling public.

Promoting environmental responsibility, the airport undertook a cleanliness drive across its premises and organised the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation initiative, encouraging sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

Recognising the efforts of those who contribute behind the scenes, AAI honoured contract personnel and women employees from various stakeholder organisations with certificates of appreciation and saplings in acknowledgement of their dedication and valuable service.
