Karpagam College of Engineering in Coimbatore organized an awareness programme for International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026. Inspector Selvaragavan from Chettipalayam Police Station delivered the keynote address, urging over 250 students to lead drug-free lives and become responsible citizens.
Coimbatore: To commemorate International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026, an awareness programme was organized at Karpagam College of Engineering, Coimbatore. The programme was jointly organized by the Anti-Drug Committee, NSS, and YRC Faculty Coordinators and Volunteers.

The keynote awareness speech was delivered by Mr. Selvaragavan, Inspector of Police, Chettipalayam Police Station, who emphasized the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraged students to lead a drug-free life while becoming responsible citizens.
The programme was conducted in the presence of Dr. P. Karthigaikumar, Principal, and Dr. S. Sophia, Dean (Academics). Dr. Aathi Pandian- PRO - Karpagam Institutions delivered the special address, highlighting the importance of youth participation in creating a drug-free society.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Ganesh Murali, Professor & Head (i/c)- Dept of Mechanical Engineering and Anti-Drug Committee In-charge. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Thangamani Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Sharmaila, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology.
More than 250 students from various departments actively participated in the programme and benefited from the informative and inspiring awareness session.
