Coimbatore Aavin Scraps ₹2 Discount for Monthly Cardholders from July 1

With an aim to streamline milk distribution, improve operational efficiency and ensure uninterrupted supply, the Coimbatore District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union has announced a series of reforms. As part of these measures, all monthly cardholders will be supplied milk at the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) with effect from July 1, 2026.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Co-operative Milk Producers' Union has announced a slew of administrative reforms aimed at streamlining milk distribution, improving operational efficiency and ensuring uninterrupted supply of Aavin milk to consumers across the district. The revised measures will come into force from July 1, 2026.




The Union currently markets an average of 2.30 lakh litres of milk and milk products every day through a network of 650 retail agents, catering to the daily requirements of consumers in Coimbatore district.




According to the Union, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled Aavin Sales Mobile Application was introduced on March 5, 2026, to facilitate digital order placement, online payment of dues, efficient confirmation of milk and milk product requirements, and real-time monitoring of milk distribution vehicles.




As part of the reforms, consumers enrolled under the monthly Aavin milk card scheme will be required to remit the subscription amount exclusively through the mobile application between the 11th and 25th of every month.




The Union has also decided to withdraw the ₹2-per-litre concession presently extended to monthly milk cardholders. Consequently, with effect from July 1, 2026, milk will be supplied to all monthly cardholders at the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). The decision, according to the Union, has been taken after taking into consideration its financial position.




In another significant operational change, milk indents placed by retail agents will henceforth be processed on a box-wise basis, replacing the existing packet-wise system. Each box will comprise 12 litres of milk.




To facilitate timely distribution, agents have been instructed to confirm both morning and evening milk requirements by 4 p.m. on the previous day, after remitting the requisite payment through the mobile application.




Further, from July 1, agents will be permitted to remit payments after deducting their eligible milk commission. The Union has also made it mandatory for all agents to place their daily indents for milk and milk products and complete payment transactions exclusively through the AI-enabled Aavin Sales Mobile Application.




The Union has advised all retail agents to maintain adequate bank balance to facilitate seamless digital transactions and requested both consumers and agents to extend their full cooperation in implementing the revised distribution system.
