Coimbatore: International Plastic Bag Free Day, observed annually on July 3, is a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the severe environmental hazards caused by single-use plastic bags and promoting sustainable, reusable alternatives.

Marking the occasion, students and teachers of Sri Ramakrishna School organised an awareness rally and cultural programme at Race Course in Coimbatore to spread awareness about plastic pollution and environmental conservation.
The programme highlighted the harmful impact of single-use plastic bags on the environment, wildlife and marine ecosystems, while encouraging the public to adopt eco-friendly alternatives such as reusable cloth and jute bags.

Students conveyed the message through dance performances, songs and awareness activities that emphasised the importance of reducing plastic consumption and embracing environmentally responsible habits.
The rally concluded with participants carrying placards bearing messages such as "Say No to Plastic – Choose Reusable Cloth Bags" and "Today's Small Change Creates a Better Tomorrow," urging members of the public to minimise plastic use and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future.
