Thousands of kilos Government Urea Seized from Chemical Warehouse in Thirumalayampalayam, Coimbatore

Thousands of kilograms of government-supplied urea bags were allegedly found in a warehouse operating illegally in Thirumalayampalayam near Coimbatore. The discovery comes amid allegations that subsidised fertiliser was being diverted to Kerala, prompting complaints from local residents.

Coimbatore:

Thousands of kilograms of government-supplied urea bags were allegedly discovered at a warehouse said to be operating illegally in Thamanam Parai, Thirumalayampalayam Town Panchayat, on the outskirts of Coimbatore.

According to local residents, the warehouse was being used to store chemicals without the required approvals. During inquiries, large quantities of government-supplied urea bags were allegedly found inside the premises, raising suspicion over the diversion and misuse of subsidised fertiliser.

Residents further alleged that government-subsidised urea meant for farmers was being diverted and transported to Kerala. Following the discovery, members of the public alerted the concerned authorities and lodged a complaint seeking immediate action.

Officials are expected to investigate the source of the seized urea, verify whether the warehouse was functioning with valid permissions and determine whether any violations of fertiliser distribution or storage regulations have occurred.

Further investigation is under way.
